Montreal's Arctic Shipping Summit To Focus On Developments, Investments In Region

ACI's 12th Arctic Shipping Summit will be held in Montreal, Canada from February 21-22, 2018. A highlight of the summit will be a presentation by director Lonnie Kishiyama at the Office of International Activities Maritime Administration, US Department of Transport.

The presentation will focus on: developments and investments in the Arctic; bilateral agreements and investments that are driving growth in the region; natural resource development in Polar regions; advancements in infrastructure investments; and shipping support and sustainability of Arctic communities.

Other confirmed speakers include: Deputy Director General, Petter Meier, Norwegian Ministry of Transport & Communications; head of ice services, Keld Qvistgaard, Danish Meteorological Institute/Greenland ice service; and partner Peter Pamel at Borden Ladner Gervais, a statement from the organisers said.

This year's key topics include: Growing Changes in Arctic, Compliance & Market Updates; Increasing Efficiency & Profitability through Arctic Corridors; Developments in Arctic Technology to Enhance Polar Shipping; Measures in Reducing Risks & Heavy Fuel Oil in the Arctic; Implications of the Polar Code as a Component in Risk Assessment; and Ship Design Options & Solutions to Aid in Arctic Operations.
